Neighbors,
We have been very busy down at City Hall since we had our last ward meeting in August. I wanted to write to you again to provide you with some updates and to invite you to our next ward meeting.
A brand new major project is about to be underway right off the Veterans Memorial Parkway. At the January 10, 2023 Special Board of Aldermen meeting we were presented with a potential project by Director of Economic Development, Tim Cummings, and a team of developers who have a vision for the old Mohawk Tannery. I found this to be a very promising project that showed great potential for the 30-acre parcel located off the Veterans Memorial Parkway.
The proposal includes the creation of 230 apartment units and 316 condominium units, for a total of 546 new units of housing. Although I have a lot of questions that have not yet been answered, I find this very exciting and would like to hear your thoughts on the project.
At our last ward meeting, we discussed in depth a potential revitalization project of Navaho Park and turning it into a community garden. We are still in deep talks with Regenerative Roots about the project and are looking for alternative ways that do not use taxpayer dollars to fund this project, which would cost roughly $25,000.
With all of this going on and so much more I am planning to hold another ward meeting so any questions or concerns you may have can be discussed. I have booked the Library at Broad Street Elementary on March 9, 2023 at 7:00 PM. While there are so many things I love about being an Alderman, hosting these ward meetings are my favorite. It is a time where I can connect with you and discuss not only the future of Ward 1, but our City as a whole.
I hope everyone with their families can make it!
In the meantime please do not hesitate to reach out via call or text, 603-809-1786, or email, gouveiat@nashuanh.gov.
